Day Thirty-Three

Got up early and caught up on some blog reading. Discovered that New Girl has an entire season on Netflix that I hadn't seen, so lost a lot of time to that. It occurs to me that I spend too much time watching T.V....

Went shopping with Mom, bought a few new shirts. I'm trying to upgrade my wardrobe to 'doesn't look like a hobo.' So making progress there.

Got home, finished watching New Girl, then decided it was time to get to work LIKE AN ADULT. Put on pajamas, stumbled through the dark to my desk because the lightbulb in my lamp is dead and I still haven't replaced it yet, then started writing LIKE AN ADULT. Realized I utterly hate that story I'm writing and it's the stupidest thing ever, so judging by my writing patterns I'd say I've hit the halfway point. Meh, looking like it'll turn out shorter than I wanted, but that's okay. It's a good thing I'm employing myself because I have not learned to write to length yet...

Day Thirty-One

Had an early shift at work, got home and found a pile of house stuff waiting for me. Got through some final edits real fast, then met with the realtor to sign paperwork. Got home and ate ice cream while watching Dexter. Went to bed early.

Day Thirty

Wow, crazy. Day thirty already. Hmm.

Got up around eight, threw laundry in the machine, walked my dog. Then sat down and finally managed to make myself finish up some edits, mostly by promising myself I'd get to start a shiny new project if I did. Got the edits sent to editor, then started writing the shiny new project. I've got this idea in my head that I'm going to release a short story every two days. Not sure how it'll turn out, but I'm excited to give it a try.

Finished writing and laundry, went to work. Blah, boring. Got home around nine, ate some cake for dinner. Because that's how I roll. The editor sent me back another set of quick edits. Looked them over and sent back. Caught up on blogs. Told myself I should get to more writing. Got grumbly and reluctant about it. Decided to write a blog post here. :)

For the interested, Pride is now up to six copies sold. Pretty fantabulous if I do say so myself. Interested to see if these short stories will sell any copies when I get them up. Yay for grand experiments!

Day Twenty-Six

Yup, if you click on the book tab you'll see there's a book there now! "But, Evie," you might say, "How can you have a book when you've hardly gotten any writing done?"

"Well," I might answer (while glaring at you, because, really, what a rude question) "It's a book I already had written. It's been sitting all edited and polished up on my hard drive for a couple months now while I deal with other things."

I've been spending the last few days dealing with tons of formatting for some projects on a different pen name and I thought, why not format and publish this while I'm at it? So I did!

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I realize days twenty-three through six lack posts. Suffice it to say that I had some terrible days at work then formatted in my free time. That's about it.

Today I got up early and spent the day putting together things for my book signing (again, other pen name). I got a poster of the cover printed up at an office store. It was a bit expensive, but it looks gorgeous and I'm leaving it on display at the bookstore for a couple of weeks. Only two people actually showed up to the book signing, but I caught up on some twitter and hung out with my family and talked to the bookstore owner a little, so all in all, not a terrible day.

After the signing I went out with my family and stuffed myself with some delicious mexican food at our favorite place. Then drove home and got on my computer. Obviously the first place I went to was KDP to see if my book had gone up. It had, and I'd already sold a copy! Thanks, whoever you are!

I realized I should probably update this blog with the new book, so I did that then wrote this post! I also happened to notice an email full of writing prompts in my inbox, so I might have some fun with a few short stories before I go to bed.

Day Twenty-Two

I did get a little more writing done before I went to bed last night. Got up this morning, wrote a little more, messed around on the internet, then remembered that I needed to get files to the printer if I wanted copies of my book in time for the book signing Saturday. Grabbed some templates and started formatting, then had to go to work.

Put in my eight hours, nothing significant happened. Got back home, finished formatting and sent in the files. Might have to rush shipping to get it here in time. Oops.

Now it's almost time to get to sleep so I can wake up for my early shift tomorrow. Maybe I'll squeeze in a little more writing first. Hmm.

Day Twenty-One

I finished the edit and sent it back to my editor! Accomplishment! Now to sneak back to Bad Graces until she gets back to me. Oh, wait, did you want to know about my day or something?

Okay, so I had a middle shift thing today at work which means this awful eleven a.m. to around seven p.m. time, blah. Didn't do much of anything in the morning. Read some blogs, put together my spending worksheet for August. To explain, it's this thing I do at the beginning of every month where I add up everything I spent last month and see where my money went. I find it really useful for finding places to cut back spending. Necessary, on a budget as tight as mine. Anyway, did all that and went to work.

Had an awful day at work. Felt completely drained at the end of it. Got home, did some grocery shopping, watched some Dexter, and moaned about not wanting to do anything. Whacked my brain with a healthy dose of guilt and when-will-i-get-this-done fear and managed to get in front of my laptop and worked till I got those edits done. Then popped in here to write this blog. Twa-la! Might write a little more tonight and tack it onto tomorrow's word count. Or might just read more Dresden. I'll see.

Days Twelve Through Twenty

Got distracted by house hunting stress. Suffice it to say that I haven't written anything. Picking back up and starting again today. I'm thinking I'm going to post on day of from now on, since posting on the day after got too confusing. So I'll have a recap post tonight before I go to bed. Hoping to finish up some edits and send something to the printer tonight, then dust myself off and get back to Bad Graces.
